The Grown-Up Pumpkin Patch

Our signature autumn event celebrates the close of our farm year. Pack an elegant picnic and join us for a joyful and relaxing night out.

An evening made for gathering

Saturday, October 24, 2026
5:30–8:30 p.m.
Killdeer Farms | West Sacramento
Tickets: $39 per person

The Grown-Up Pumpkin Patch is our annual excuse to gather a few friends, pack an over-the-top picnic, and settle in for a little R&R.

Arrive while the sun is still up and head to the flower field for a mini you-pick. Your ticket includes a bud vase to fill with flowers from the farm. Then find your picnic spot, grab yourself a glass of beer or wine from Emile’s Cafe, and enjoy live music from Dylan Vroom as daylight gives way to evening.

And because some of our guests have upped their picnic game, we are officially encouraging a little extra flair this year.

Bring the blanket and camp chairs if that is your style. Or lean in with linens, decor and stemware. The evening is as Instagram-worthy as you want it to be.

We will be awarding prizes to a few of our favorite picnic setups.

Your ticket includes

  • Each $39 ticket includes:

    • Admission to The Grown-Up Pumpkin Patch

    • Mini flower you-pick

    • Live music by Dylan Vroom

    • Participation in our picnic setup contest, if you choose

Food, beer, and wine from Emile’s Café are sold separately.

The Picnic

This is, first and foremost, a picnic.

Most guests create their own cozy spread. You are welcome to bring:

  • Picnic blankets

  • Camp chairs

  • Folding or low picnic tables

  • Cushions

  • Linens and tablecloths

  • Plates and flatware

  • Stemware or reusable drinkware

  • Battery-operated lanterns

  • Flameless candles

  • Seasonal décor

  • Wagons

Wagons are especially welcome. They make hauling a picnic considerably easier and, at this point, have become something of an unofficial Grown-Up Pumpkin Patch accessory.

You are welcome to keep your setup wonderfully simple or create a tiny dinner party.

Reserved Seating

We have a limited amount of farm-table and picnic-table seating available for guests who prefer not to bring their own.

Reserved seating is available as an optional add-on to your event ticket.

Community Tables

Reserve an individual seat at one of our shared community tables.

$12 per seat

Private Table Reservations

Want the whole table?

A limited number of full tables are available to reserve for your group.

Table for 6: $65
Table for 8: $85

Your reservation includes a picnic table or farm table with chairs.

Please note: Reserved seating does not include event admission. Every guest must also have a $39 Grown-Up Pumpkin Patch ticket.

Decorative hay bales will also be placed around the farm and are available on a first-come basis.

Lean in for the occasion

Over the years, our guests have turned picnic setup into one of the best parts of the evening—complete with linens, flowers, lanterns, stemware, and the occasional table that looks borrowed from the dining room.

This year, we’re leaning into it with prizes for a few favorite setups. Blankets, wagons, camp chairs, or full tables all count, and creativity matters more than formality.

Food, Beer & Wine

We are delighted to welcome Emile’s Café to the farm this year.

Emile’s will offer pre-purchased snack boxes plus beer and wine for purchase during the evening.

Guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic food.

Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Additional information about Emile’s menu and any advance-order picnic offerings will be shared soon.

Flowers at Golden Hour

Come early enough to enjoy the flower field before sunset.

Each ticket includes a bud vase and a mini you-pick from the designated cutting area. We provide the vase and flowers; you provide the creative direction.

The flower field will close once daylight is no longer sufficient for safe cutting, so we recommend visiting the flowers shortly after you arrive.

Flower availability always depends on what the farm gives us that week. That is part of the deal with seasonal flowers.

A Note About Darkness

The sun will set while you are here.

That is part of what makes the evening so lovely—and why we strongly encourage everyone to bring personal lighting for their picnic.

Battery-operated table lamps, lanterns, fairy lights, and flameless candles are all welcome.

A flashlight or headlamp is also a surprisingly useful item when it comes time to locate your belongings and pack the wagon at the end of the night.

The farm will provide lighting for primary walkways, restrooms, food service, and other important areas, but some picnic areas benefit from a little extra glow.

Open flames are not permitted.

A few more notes

Killdeer Farms is a working farm, not a paved event venue.

Expect grass, dirt, bark, uneven ground, insects, and all the other evidence that agriculture is actually happening here.

Wear shoes that can handle it.

Guests may bring wagons, chairs, blankets, and small tables onto the farm.

Please keep pathways clear and be considerate of neighboring picnic groups when setting up your space.

Timing

5:30 p.m. — Gates open

We recommend arriving near the beginning of the event if you would like to cut flowers while there is plenty of daylight.

Settle in, enjoy the farm, and stay awhile.

8:30 p.m. — Event ends
