Flower Club FAQ

  • Treat yourself or someone you love when you sign up for an 8-month or 4-month subscription! Once a month during your subscription season, you’ll receive a Bloom Bucket of loose, freshly harvested flowers straight to your door in West Sacramento.

  • Each month’s Bloom Bucket is thoughtfully harvested with color and design in mind. Every bucket is different, so you can discover and fall in love with new varieties of flowers throughout the season. Bloom Buckets contain approximately 50-60 stems of flowers, foliage, and decorative accents like grasses and pods, so making arrangements at home is always fun and delightful. As an example, a summer bucket could include 10 lisianthus, 5 sunflower, 5 statis, 10 strawflower, 10 scented geranium, and 5 eucalyptus.

  • Before your subscription begins, we’ll reach out and let you know your delivery dates, so you can add them to your calendar in advance. We deliver on weekday mornings before 7 am, so you can snag your flowers before you leave for work. We won’t knock or disrupt you, but you’ll receive a text message letting you know your Bloom Bucket has arrived on your porch.

  • Proper care is the key to a long-lasting bouquet. With a few easy steps, you can significantly extend the life of your arrangement:

    • Be sure to thoroughly sanitize your vase before you begin arranging, as any lingering bacteria will cause decay. We wash ours with hot, soapy water and a little bleach.

    • Big rule for life: If you don’t want to drink the water or take a bath in it, your flowers don’t either. Keep your water clean at all times.

    • Cut flowers love cool temperatures and do not like direct sunlight or drafts, so display them away from windows, air conditioning vents and heaters.

    • Don’t keep your flowers by the fruit bowl. Ripening fruits release a gas called ethylene that makes some flowers fussy.

    • Trim half an inch off your flower stems at least once a week and, if you can, re-sanitize your vase or container with hot water and a splash of vinegar or bleach.

  • It depends. Many factors contribute to vase life, and some flowers naturally die faster. Poppies, for example, last about three days, while zinnias and basil will blow past the two-week mark if properly cared for. The best way to maximize your bouquet is to give your flowers the TLC they need using the steps above and removing stems individually as they die so they don’t decay the vase.

  • Because we need to stay efficient, each neighborhood has a designated delivery day. Before your subscription season begins, we’ll let you know when to expect your deliveries, and if you need to adjust for vacation, we can assist.

  • We love a good vacation, so we are happy to make one accommodation per subscription season in case you are out of town. If you need to miss an additional delivery day, we recommend asking a neighbor or friend to grab your bucket and enjoy the flowers in your absence.

  • We grow what we sell, and we are very particular about harvesting only the happiest, healthiest flowers for your delivery. For this reason, Bloom Buckets are always farmer’s choice.

  • Well, for starters, did you know that 80 percent of the flowers sold in America are imported? The heart of the global cut flower trade is the Netherlands, which supplies 40 percent of the world’s flowers, but Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Belgium, and Ethiopia are also in the top 10. Many of those flowers — and for sure those long-stem red roses — are grown in massive production greenhouses using a variety of chemicals to ensure perfection.

Then, through a long and complex supply chain of workers, farmers, brokers, and refrigerated airlines and cargo ships, they make their way into the hands of wholesalers who then sell to florists, who then sell to you.

By the time you get them, they’re two or three weeks old and have been handled dozens of times, decreasing their health and longevity. Alternatively, we can grow them for you down the street using California sunshine and our own bare hands.
